Changed avian assemblage of Savitribai Phule Pune University campus in last four decades

Savitribai Phule Pune University is known for its biodiversity in Pune. In the present study, we have analyzed changes which occurred on campus and surrounding area over last 40 years. Of 90 bird species reported Khadki pond 1976, failed to notice 34 2018. A major reason decline diversity could be habitat from low scrub jungle, fallow lands grassland buildings, roads, exotic plantations. Increase human settlement may also a contributing factor. Replacing plants by indigenous plant control of land use can prevent further loss biodiversity.
